The Centre for Pioneer Learning (CPL) has been providing training and retreat events, consultancy and mentoring which have been resourcing pioneers since it was founded in 2013. Its purpose is to support a generation of pioneers, and the wider church, as they seek to transform lives and communities with the hope and love of Jesus in innovative and contextual ways.
Under the leadership of its first Director, Dave Male, CPL launched Pioneer School and helped facilitate the Breakout Gathering – an annual retreat for pioneers. He was ably supported by Nicky Redsell, and in 2015, when Dave was appointed as the Church of England’s National Advisor for Pioneer Development, Nicky succeeded him as Director.
In 2018 there was another transition in leadership when the trustees appointed Simon Goddard to follow Nicky as she moved into pastures new. Continuing and building upon the good work of his predecessors, Simon who has pioneered an online version of the mission-shaped ministry course, is seeking to also make the pioneer school experience accessible as a virtual learning experience.
